AIMS: RUNNING COURSE FOLLOWING PHYSIO/REHAB TO HELP DO A MARATHON

Sarah has been a great help getting me back on my feet after a serious thigh strain back in September 2013 and in a position, with Andy’s able assistance, to complete the Brighton marathon in April 2014, and then after a subsequent calf strain, to run the Bournemouth marathon in October 2014 with no side effects.

Their attention to detail, understanding my specific needs, and reviewing my running style to be less prone to injuries has helped and I am now training for Brighton and London Marathons in April 2015 with renewed confidence!

AIMS: INJURY PREVENTION AND INCREASE IN PERFORMANCE, THEN FOLLOW ON COURSE TO WORK ON SPEED ENDURANCE

I came to Synergy through a recommendation from a friend.
I was really struggling with tight calf muscles after runs. Suzanne, the running coach, immediately identified the problems and set about changing my technique.

Since completing the six sessions the tight calf issue has all but gone. I recently completed the Surrey Half Marathon and did a personal best time by 12 minutes and felt good after the event without usual muscle soreness.

I would highly recommend Synergy, whether a beginner or an experienced runner as they will help you improve.

AIMS: INJURY PREVENTION THEN FOLLOW ON COURSE TO WORK ON SPEED

I want to say a huge thank you to Andy for all the help and advice I have gained from my sessions, they have always been tailored to accommodate and resolve any niggles or injuries I have come across.

The guidance on my technique has made a huge difference in my running performance and I recently ran the Surrey half marathon in 1hr 46mins – well under my target time and a new pb!

Thank you Synergy Running and Movement Centre, highly recommended.

AIM: INJURY PREVENTION FOLLOWING PHYSIO/REHAB

In January 2013, I sprained my back. I was unable to stand upright and could barely put one foot in front of the other. I called Synergy straight away as they were local and I had used them once previously.

A couple of weeks later I was upright and mobile, albeit slow. After a few more weeks of treatment and rehab exercises I was able to return to bootcamp. I can’t thank Sally enough. I had never suffered injury before and it completely shattered my confidence. Sally helped me with both!

Synergy then offered me a running analysis, which I took them up on and found the information useful. I now return to Synergy every 6 weeks to see Andy for Sports massage. I now feel better, stronger and no longer worry about my back. I’ve stayed injury free – I put my body through bootcamp and obstacle events.

Great team of people. I’ve recommended all my friends and personally wouldn’t go anywhere else.

AIMS: INJURY PREVENTION AND INCREASE OF PACE

Having completed the course with Andy last year, my running seems to be coming on in leaps and bounds (pun intended)!

I seem to be able to hold a much quicker average pace without increasing effort.

With a couple of follow up sessions through the year the pb’s keep coming, with the latest at Surrey Half, 1.46! With a negative split! Totally chuffed!

AIM: INJURY PREVENTION

I just thought I’d report in after the Great South Run yesterday – I did it!!!!!

And I ran the whole way too, finishing in 1hr 45mins exactly, which is 3.5 minutes faster than last year too! So I’m absolutely thrilled – particularly as I have no “bad” calf or knee pain this morning at all – and just some achy legs. Even my glutes aren’t aching, so I must have been doing something right.

I was really careful to pace myself the whole way round, which I found really worked – and I now have the confidence to sign up for next year’s Surrey Half.

Thanks so much for all your help and advice!

Jo

AIMS: INJURY PREVENTION AND TO IMPROVE HIS ENJOYMENT OF RUNNING

Synergy helped me understand where my running style may be the cause of some of the pains and injuries I’d been experiencing (I’d never been taught to run before). They guided me on changes to make to reduce the likelihood of strain or injury.

My improved technique certainly makes me feel better when running and I enjoy it much more.

AIM: INJURY PREVENTION IN THE RUN UP TO LONDON MARATHON

Doing the running school was fantastic!

I learnt so much and was very impressed with the knowledge and expertise of Andy and Suz. I was able to train for the London marathon effectively, without injury, and got a better time than I had expected. I can’t thank you enough for helping me achieve this life goal of mine. I would highly recommend the course.

AIM: RUNNING COURSE FOLLOWING INJURY/REHAB

A massive thank you to all of the staff that have helped me get over my back injury.

I now no longer need to wear my orthotics, I walk and run so much better than before. My posture has completely changed. It is amazing how small changes make such an enormous difference to my overall wellbeing. I never thought I would be able to run again and now thanks to Sally and Suzanne I am starting to run.

Thank you Synergy Physio!!

AIM: INJURY PREVENTION

Its six months since I finished my course with Suz and Andy in Woking, and I’ve been completely injury free ever since, my longest period of pain free running since I started taking it more seriously 7 years ago.

There is a lot to take in from the sessions, especially when you’ve been used to your own running style for basically the whole of your life, and yes it feels a little un-natural and difficult to alter it, but keep with it.

When running, your form will go as you get tired but remembering to “use your arms”, “keep upright” and “bring your heels through” is like a mantra and helps keep your mind occupied and more importantly keeps you focused on what you should be doing at the very time you are likely to get injured.

The proof is also there, last month I achieved a 5k PB, over 50 races on from when I last set that mark.

AIMS: INJURY PREVENTION FOLLOWING PHYSIO/REHAB

Synergy helped my son, Charlie (Age 12) to get back to top level running again after a nasty episode of Severs Disease.

We were really impressed with how the physio and the running coach worked together to help Charlie regain his strength, agility and technique, as well as his confidence.

Both Andy and Sarah were friendly and approachable, making Charlie feel very comfortable and helping him to understand the exercises he had to do and why it would help him recover.

After six months of excellent treatment, Charlie made a full recovery and is now back to his best, running cross country in the muddiest races he can find up and down the country. Thanks for all your help.

AIMS: GETTING BACK TO RUNNING AFTER INJURY, INJURY PREVENTION

Ruth and Andy analysed the cause of my Achilles problem and worked together over nearly 6 months to get me back running. The care they took was very impressive and encouraging.

I have returned to Park Run and have managed to be first in my age group (65-70) and feel confident enough to have a crack at the BUPA 10k in May.

Thank you and I have no hesitation in recommending the Running and Movement Clinic.
