How does the fitting and ordering process work?

The CTi is a medical grade brace with adjustable parts. Everybody’s legs vary slightly and we ensure that your fit is correct and the brace we provide gives you the ultimate protection.

  • Personalised Phone call prior to appointment

Firstly we advise that you contact us by phone so that one of our highly trained specialists can discuss your personal requirements and check the CTi brace is suitable. At this point we may ask some questions surround the history of any knee problems and about the activities you take part in.

  • Full measurement and fitting

For the next step, you will be asked to attend the clinic where we will measure your knee and assess your muscles, ligaments and the degree of instability you may have. The measurements will be used to order your brace. (Custom Braces will have the option to choose the colour or pattern of your choice.)

  • Multi angled video analysis

At your next appointment we will fit your new brace and ensure you are happy how it feels, including fastening and release process. We will then conduct a multi-angled video analysis of you either walking or running. Seeing what biomechanical stresses your knee undergoes during these movements may help us advise you on exercises to aid the stability of your knee when not wearing the brace.

What type of people does a CTi brace benefit?

High energy sports such as skiing, water skiing and motocross and skateboarding can give huge strains on the knee ligaments, as can any sport requiring controlling footwear with spikes or studs on soft ground. Whether the ligament is repaired or not, we can help to stabilise these knees following injury, enabling more stability in standing and walking. Our clients are often referred to us from orthopaedic consultants, asking us to provide a brace to protect from injury, support a torn ligament or to protect their repaired ACL injuries after surgery.

How will a CTi brace help?

Some of our clients want and need to keep fit and active but have difficulty doing so because of previous injury or joint instability. We help to provide the necessary support and protection to reduce the risk of further injury and minimise unnecessary wear and tear in an unstable joint or joint complex.

The aim of treatment is to prevent further injury from reoccurring after the initial repair of ruptures or torn ligaments in the knee or ankle has taken place. Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are most common and can prevent a confident return to sport.

What’s different about the CTi as compared to other knee braces?

Every single CTi knee ligament brace is carefully handcrafted in the USA. The carbon fibre is laid specifically for each custom unit to properly match upper and lower leg proportions in order to support the knee joint correctly.

CT knee braces are designed with the fundamental bracing theory of a rigid frame design. We strongly believe that a rigid frame design is necessary for proper knee control. The rigid system provides brace-to-bone contact, without bending or deflecting, to maintain knee alignment.

The way CTi is secured to the leg is based on the following: the human leg has a lot of muscle mass, and that mass constantly shifts around during exercise as the muscle flex and extends. While the calf fluctuates more during this process than any other muscle on the leg, the muscles on the front of the tibia hardly move at all. This is the place where the CTi is locked into position with a rigid piece that wraps around the shin.
