Claire Maytham

Specialist MSK & Domicillary Physiotherapist

Claire qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Hertfordshire. She is a member of the CSP and HPC. Since qualifying she has gained extensive experience in treating adult medical, surgical, neurological, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal patients both in the NHS and private settings. For the last few years she has been working part time alongside the Synergy Physio domiciliary service in a busy A&E and Clinical Assessment unit at a local district general hospital. She has gained valuable insight into the physical and social needs of patients when they return home from hospital and the challenges it presents.

Her broad range of experience gained over the last 20 years enables her to treat a wide variety of conditions in both clinic and community settings. As hospital stays become shorter and community services fewer Claire has noticed there is a greater need for patients to be seen in a timely manner in their own environment. She is passionate about supporting these patients in their home in order to achieve their optimum level of independence, improve management of their condition and their quality of life.

As a former international athlete, Claire has first-hand experience of the frustration’s athletes experience with injuries, but equally understands these frustrations are not just limited to athletes. Losing independence following an operation, diagnosis with a medical or neurological disease can affect confidence and self-esteem. The Synergy Physio domiciliary service aims to address this with patient focused goals and rehabilitation in their own environment

Whether it be a one-off assessment to identify the client’s transfer/mobility status/potential, or ongoing treatment sessions to help them regain their independence, Claire has the necessary skills and experience to help.
